i just got this new male for my female, and he is trying to breed her but she is not receptive, i was told i needed to cycle her, which i knew, but i wasnt sure how, i keep getting different methods and oppiions and finally i just want a clear answer, how do you properly cycle your female bearded so she will be receptive and ready to breed.

If you just got these, they really need to be quarantined for a few months beforehand (at least 6 weeks) and should be kept singly in separate enclosures (they're solitary animals). I know it's exciting to jump onto breeding projects, but you need to put the needs of the animals first and putting them together without QT is just asking for trouble. One could be carrying parasites or any other number of contagions and you won't know it until you're suddenly having to treat not only the animal who was the carrier but every animal it has been in contact with.

Once the animals have cleared quarantine and are the right age and weight for breeding, then you can start worrying about that part of the hobby.

Hope I'm not coming off as "preachy". I just don't want you to have to deal with a myriad of potential problems when they're preventable by strict quarantine procedures and keeping each animal singly.

i have them seperated tempest lol. i have them in two seperate tanks pushed together so they can see eachother, i was hoping to get the info i need before i started this project lol. im finishing up my breeding pack right now i just need one more female for my male and we'll be ready to go. my male is doing his mating dance now and she seems to be ready for him but i need to wait for her to get a little bigger.
