Has anyone used Woody Pet bedding for snakes? I'm not crazy about blonde colored bedding for my habitats but the price is right for me, free.

http://www.woodypet.com/horse.html

They use it at the Barn but I have heard of some people using it for other pets. I heard one or 2 instances where it was used for snakes but not really enough info about it to make me feel ok with it yet

lol I thought you meant a husbandry thread on python passion.....I was confused. I have never heard of that stuff before. The only problems I could foresee are mold growing from misting it, and the possibility of you snakes consuming it when they are eating their food. I used a small fir bark for my snakes once and I ended up picking fir bark out of m snakes jaw because they couldn't get it unstuck. If you are just looking for a cheap alternative for bedding go to a local pet store and find compressed cocoa husk. A brick of it should be like 2 bucks or 4 at most. the brick expands into 2 gallons of cocoa husk. It is big enough you don't have to worry about the snakes eating it, and it also never really molds. It is great for high humidity snakes and anything in between. If you don't want to choose that route, go to your local home depot or lowes or some garden center and buy a "hardwood mulch" with no dyes or anything. Take it home and bake it in the oven at i think 200 degrees for a couple of hours to make sure every little creepy crawly that might be in there is dead. I did that for a loooooong time haha. I hope this helps.

Thanks. I use coconut bark right now but havnt seen it in the brick. Never really looked tho. I like the idea about the mulch. Probably try that next time I redo the tanks. It was on PythonPassion I was talking about tho. Its titled live plants in the General Husbandry section.
